The chapel of Theodolinda in the Duomo
Architecture, decoration, Milan, Electa, 1991.
Promoted by the Soroptimist Club of Monza, the volume collects the results of the research work of a group of scholars coordinated by Liana Castelfranchi Vegas as part of the activities of the Graduate School of Art History at the University of Milan.
In view of the opening of the restoration site of the painting surfaces, it was intended to explore as many tracks as possible, alongside already known themes other less frequented, such as critical fortune (F. Frisoni), the architectural structure claimed to Matteo da Campione (R. Cassanelli), the Viscount and Sforza enterprises (S. Zuffi), conservation problems and the history of restorations (R. Cassanelli, A. Lucchini), clothing (E. Fischer), providing also for the first time an in-depth iconographic analysis of the cycle (F. Lollini) with a careful review of written and epigraphic sources, including in the light of what emerged from the publication of the housing contract of 1445 (Shell 1989).
